On 28 October 2025, TAMRI and the University of Oxford formalised a landmark collaboration focused on medical training, innovation, and applied research.
This partnership — formally exchanged during H.E. the General Secretary Tô Lâm’s UK visit — builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding from January 2025 and transforms it into a dynamic framework for joint work. Key priorities include:
• Capacity-building for clinical researchers and healthcare professionals
• Joint applied research in fields of global importance (e.g., non-communicable diseases)
• Translating findings into Vietnamese clinical practice
• Training programs co-led by rhe University of Oxford and TAMRI experts
This is the first time the University of Oxford has entered into a bilateral cooperation with a Vietnamese research institute tied to a hospital — a testament to the ambition and capability of TAMRI and its leadership.
In parallel, on 30 October 2025, the TAMRI / VNVC ecosystem deepened its long-standing ties with GSK (UK), under the witness of H.E. the General Secretary Tô Lâm in London, by signing agreements to elevate strategic cooperation in vaccines, medicines, and scientific research. Highlights of this enhanced cooperation:
• Focus on early access to advanced medicines and vaccines developed by GSK
• Support for scientific research collaboration, technology & knowledge transfer
• Enabling Vietnam’s progress toward self-reliance in vaccine manufacturing
• The partnership is projected to unlock collaboration valued at ~£500 million over 5 years
• It builds on a foundation: over the past five years, TAMRI / VNVC and GSK have already engaged in joint initiatives worth nearly £400 million.
As the Vietnam-UK Network, we are proud to celebrate these landmark achievements. They exemplify the kind of equitable, high-impact collaboration we strive to foster:
• They bring together strong Vietnamese institutions with world-class UK partners
• They translate diplomatic momentum into lasting, technical, people-to-people outcomes
• They reinforce the vision of Vietnam and the UK as mutually invested partners in research, health innovation, and shared prosperity.
Congratulations to the teams at Tâm Anh, VNVC, University of Oxford and GSK.
