No matter where they are, Tet is a time when Vietnamese people return home to be with their families and loved ones. Over the years, the Vietnamese Embassy in London has become an open home for many Vietnamese living in the UK. Once again, Ambassador Đỗ Minh Hùng, Mdm Tú Anh, and the Embassy team hosted over 200 Vietnamese guests, special friends of Vietnam, and their families for a joyous Tet celebration on Saturday, 25 January 2025, to welcome Tết Nguyên Đán Ất Tỵ, the Year of the Snake.
In his speech, Ambassador Hùng delivered his warmest Tet wishes to the guests and emphasised the importance of fostering a strong and tight-knit Vietnamese community, highlighting significant achievements over the past year.
Guests enjoyed an array of traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes prepared by the Embassy team, including phở, bánh chưng, nem, thịt đông, and bún thang. The celebration also included lively stage performances from talented performers across the UK, showcasing Vietnamese culture through traditional music, dance, and lively energy.
Amidst the festive atmosphere, the event provided an opportunity for friends and colleagues to reconnect, and for the Vietnamese community to come together, warming the cold London afternoon. Representatives from key organisations such as SVUK, VFP, and VietPro were in attendance, further strengthening ties within the community.
As we celebrate Tết Nguyên Đán Ất Tỵ, the Vietnam-UK Network wishes everyone a Happy Lunar New Year – Chúc Mừng Năm Mới! May this year bring prosperity, happiness, and unity to the Vietnamese community in the UK and beyond.
