Meeting the Vice Minister and friend of the Network
Despite her extremely busy schedule, the Vice Foreign Minister, Le Thi Thu Hang, took the time to meet up with the VUKN 2025 Mission team, plus the UK ambassador, Iain Frew, and representatives from the Embassy, to discuss how the group could support even closer diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Mark Kent CMG, Matt Jackson and James Kenny were delighted to discover that not only was the Vice Minister familiar with the Vietnam UK Network, she actually played an important part in its creation more than a decade ago when she was based at the Vietnam Embassy in London. In fact, her friendship with the Network pre-dates the formal creation of VUKN as she worked on the original idea in collaboration with Warwick Morris and Ben Chapman.
The meeting covered a host of important topics from the Free Trade Agreement to innovation and the energy transition, leaving the Mission team with a number of positive paths to reinforce relations in the future.
